Winner or loser?
Why does the music industry persist in rewarding people like Amy Winehouse when they are such poor role models for the youth of today? Not only does her behaviour and lifestyle set a poor example to young people but her attitudes are reinforced by the lack of action taken by the authorities with regard to her alleged misuse of illicit substances.

The ‘lady’ herself didn’t even have the good grace to appear on time last night to collect her award - she apparently preferred to be outside in a car smoking a cigarette. When she did go in, Amy was not there for any great length of time and proceeded to use foul language when interviewed by a radio reporter.

It is about time that the music industry, record companies and the authorities themselves developed some backbone and addressed the issues that are raised by the behaviour of some so called ’stars’.

These kind of people do come in the industry and get fame as well but it is all short term.
It takes much more to be a legend.

Really its our fault for publishing the details over her private life or for that matter any 'role model'...its not like she goes around parading her drug abuse, or admits to her habits in her (popular) music. I find it a tad ironic that without newspapers or websites sticking the pap's outside her house day in, day out this problem would not be there for us to complain about.

It's because of people like Antonio Maria Costa that the failed "war on drugs" still goes on without addressing the problem. Instead of blaming a singer perhaps we should help people get treatment instead?

Unfortunately great talent and a self destructive nature often goes hand in hand. I'll just enjoy her music while she is still around/able to make it. She's such a great talent. Seriously. I wish she knew that.

I acknowledge that the singer needs help, but she needs to reach for it rather than the self-destruct button. One of my points is that the music industry could help her to address her issues rather than continuing to prosper on the back of this undoubtedly talented young persons problems.
